Principal's Message
Dear Boone Meadow Families,
My name is Tom Hundley, and I am humbled and honored to continue in service to our community as the principal for Boone Meadow Elementary since the summer of 2014. While I hold my role as building principal with deep care and gratitude, I am also a teacher, husband, and father. Originally born in Columbus, Indiana, I am the youngest of three boys, a husband to my amazing wife (Cindy) of 20+ years, and the father of three incredible children (Noah, Micah, and Lily). I couldn’t be more thrilled to hold steady on this journey with you because this space is truly special. This is the school where my children attended, and it is located where my family is steeped in relationships. Eagles Nest has been our home for nearly 15 years.
Professionally, the first seven years of my educational career began as a teacher at an urban school in Atlanta. Having grown up in rural Bartholomew/Brown County, Indiana, my Atlanta experience was unique, but one that molded my belief that all children are bearers of promise who deserve opportunity to impact the world around them in profound and positive ways. It was through the lessons those children taught me that I realized to never underestimate the potential of children. They will continue to amaze us when we take the time to observe closely, speak encouragement, and let them know in both subtle and overt ways that they are capable.
Following my time in Atlanta, I returned to my alma mater in East Tennessee (Milligan University) to begin my work on my first masters and to teach at a multi-age school. My seven years in Kingsport City Schools in Kingsport, Tennessee afforded me the opportunity to be a classroom teacher, literacy coach, assistant principal, and director of an early childhood learning center (birth through preschool).
Lastly, our adventures brought us back to Hoosier territory to be closer to family. My cumulative years in Indiana led me to serve as an educational resource developer for the Childrens Museum of Indianapolis, a teacher in Pike Township, as well as, a teacher, academic instructional coach/curriculum developer, and assistant principal in Westfield Washington Schools. It was during this time that I attained my second M.A., which was in Educational Leadership from Purdue University.
With all those journeys, I am thrilled to say that we are home. Zionsville has been our home for the last 15+ years, and at many levels, it simply feels right. We love this community and the people that compose it. We are committed to this community. Our children are plugged in and engaged. We are home, and I could not be more honored or thrilled to serve the children where we live.
